Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is a type of bulldog from the United States and is mainly used as a guard dog. It is a very strong and muscular breed with a large head and brachycephalic ( shape like head) muzzle.The coat is short, usually white with black, blue, buff, or brown spots, and the tail is not docked.Sexual Dimorphism is common in this breed and Large dogs usually weigh twice as much as small bitches. It is not recognised as a breed by any major kennel club. Alapaha's fur is relatively short and fairly hard.

History
The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is a rare breed believed to be a descendant of the Old English Bulldog and brought to america in the 18th Century. They were used in blood sports bullbaits and bearbaits. They were later used as cow herders and pig herders. For several generations, this breed was bred exclusively by the Lane family in Rebecca, Georgia.They finally set up a pedigree registration with a dog named Otto, the founding dog of the family breeding business.At the beginning of the 21st century, there were an estimated 120-150 Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs were still in existance.

Health and Care
Because of the small genetic pool which can cause health problems such as Entropion ( eyelid inversion ). Vision can be affected and if left unchecked permanent effects may occur. Entropion of the eyelids can be cured by surgery. This breed also prone to joint health problems such as hip dysplasia. They are intelligent dog and easier to train. They must provide ample exercise opportunities. At least 30-60 minutes a day.
Feeding
Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog are large breeds so should be fed high quality dry kibble food. It is advisable to find foods that contain glucosamine and chondroitin, or add them to your dog's diet as they can support joint health. This is important for breeds like the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog, which are prone to joint health problems such as hip dysplasia.
Behaviour
They are excellent family dog. They are playful and great with kids. Although they may be a little stubborn. Make sure you take your place as the dominant alpha at home, and your dog will be an obedient and loyal companion.Watch out for the little dogs around, as these dogs have a fairly high prey instinct due to their hunting history.
